Journey of Discovery

Life is a journey of self-discovery.
Reading The Remains of the Day, Mr. Stevens' spiritual journey brings him to self-realisation.
However, he has discovered himself only after he has lived most of his life with a sense of waste.

It is important to stay true to yourself. Be truthful about your emotion, be truthful about your opinion.
Only then will you understand yourself better. One's potential can never be known if you don't discover and explore yourself.

Life lessons that are highlighted in Mr. David Hoe's talk in my school today:
Lesson 1: Life events are beautifully accidental.
Life is full of accidental events, which I would like to term it "the magic of coincidence".
If you observe close enough, these coincidences can do magic to one's life.

Lesson 2: Life is unfair but it is a comma, not a full stop.
Life is never fair but it doesn't mean you should give in to it.
Without a privileged background, one can always find ways to create advantage for oneself to stand with the privileged ones.
Although it might be more difficult, it is a journey of self-discovery.

Lesson 3: Never compare or compete but complete.
Comparison is never ending, there will always be people better than you. On the other hand, there will always be people worse than you. You can win a competition and defeat your opponents but there are still thousands awaiting you.
What's more important is perhaps self-worthiness. Appreciate what you have discovered about yourself in various challenges. Give your best and accept what you get.

Lesson 4: If you see a need, make the ends meet.
There is little point in complaining and sighing about a problem because it will still be there if no action is carried out.
Action speaks louder than words.

Lesson 5: Pay it forward.
In my life, I am pretty much indebted to everyone who has shown love and care.
They spread love and care without expecting any in return.
Without them, I wouldn't be as strong as I am today. I am greatly thankful.
Help others if you can, pay it forward.

Lesson 6: Show gratitude.
Always be thankful for what you have got.
Having more or less is comparative and relative.
If you are grateful, more or less wouldn't be a concern because it is enough.

These are great ideas shared by Mr David with my own takeaway. So much positive energy radiated in the 30-minute talk. Today, I am empowered.
